We have had a warm week on the Upper Delaware. Many from afar might see the temperatures rising and sun shining and assume fishing is automatically good. It has been a tougher week than last week. The rivers are high and clear and the wind has been brutal the first half of the warm spell. It has made the streamer bite slow down (without any color in the water) and the wind has swiftly removed any hatching insects. So far we have seen Stoneflys, BWO’s, Caddis a few Quill Gordons. Today and tomorrow will be 80 degrees with finally some lower wind predictions. Next week the weather goes back to normal and the bugs will most likely hold off for another week. Most of our fish this week have come from nymphing.
Good luck to those getting out in the warm stretch here. Don’t forget to MEND!
