Best Fishing in Years!

We have been out everyday since March 25th. Let’s just say its been very good. Hendricksons, Caddis, Olives and March Browns are currently hatching. Get out there!

Epic Dry Fly Fishing is Here!

This past week pretty much every river in the Catskill Mountains has been a bug factory. We have had blanket hatches of Quills, Hendricksons, BWO’s and Caddis. On some of the warmer rivers we have also seen a good amount of March Browns. The warm spell really set these rivers on fire! Rain is expected for the foreseeable future and we expect to be back on the streamer fishing. The dams are both looking to spill tomorrow with heavy rains in the forecast. We hope the Hendricksons don’t disappear in the high water expectations.

Here are a few of the fish we took on dry flies

Dry Fly Action Picks Up in the Catskills

The past warm stint has allowed us to get some really nice fish on dry flies as well as the reliable nymph. Right now the predominate hatches have been stoneflies, blue wing olives, blue quills and quill gordons. There have been some Hendrickson action around as well but shortly lived to mid the afternoon.

Early Season on the Upper Delaware River

We have been VERY busy this year. The scares in the economy has not stopped Hackett Fly Fishing and our guides. We are extremely busy and wish we had more guides! So far the streamer fishing has been pretty steady with some big fish coming to net. We thank all of our customers and happy for their success. The coming week is going to get warm up here and provide us with more dry fly action. Let’s get it!
