New Years brought us a good time and some hard ice. The ice was here for a few days on the shallow ponds while some deeper lakes have yet to get safe. Roscoe has a few ponds and lakes that are great for ice fishing. Here is some New Years fun on Lake Muskoday. The Yeager’s had them dialed in before the warmer weather came in. It is not recommended to go out on the ice until the temperatures drop for a sustained period of time.
2022 Annual Steelhead Trip
Had great fun by all. This year we had 13 guys on the trip to the Salmon River NY. The steelhead run hasn’t really panned out yet. The water levels were low and the air hot! The smell of the old salmon was pretty strong. The system hasn’t had a flush of water coupled with warm weather made for a pretty good odor. We all hooked up, some more than others. It’s all about location on the river. Up high had the most fish while some of our group did good on some fresh fish down in Douglaston. The magic fly for our trip was the chartreuse estaz egg.
Fall Recap on the Upper Delaware
Low water and difficult conditions really cut out where we could take the hard boats. We had sub par dry fly action compared to past falls however worked hard for our fish. We are praying for a good rain to get one more bump in the system before we switch over to winter steelhead. November 3rd is our first group trip.
